Biography
Joyce (Ruozhou) Wei
Joyce (Ruozhou) Wei (b.2004) creates mixed-media objects that explore the multifaceted complexities of latency and concealment, as if trapped between the tabletop and a glass covering.
Indexical traces gather in layered forms that remain allusive and elusive, often carrying a sense of vertiginous restraint and quiet serenity. Through a process-driven approach, she experiments with the sensuousness of materials that register both touch and distance. Her practice holds onto what cannot be fully recalled, trusting that intimacy, care, and material presence can speak for the overlooked.
Joyce graduated with a First Class in BFA Fine Art from the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford. She was a member of St John's College. She will pursue a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Global History of Art and Architecture, University of Cambridge.
